Intent
To develop active and healthy lifestyles for every child. Through exciting and challenging lessons and extra-curricular activities, we strive to instil a love of games, sport and exercise that will last a lifetime - for every child.
Implementation
At Bramingham Primary School, we deliver our Physical Education curriculum through the Twinkl Move scheme, which provides a progressive and inclusive programme of learning from Reception to Year 6. Lessons are carefully sequenced to develop fundamental movement skills, physical competence, teamwork, resilience and confidence, whilst encouraging all children to lead active and healthy lifestyles. Pupils take part in a broad range of both indoor and outdoor activities, making full use of our hall, playground, sports court and field to ensure they experience a variety of sports, games and physical challenges.
Inclusion is at the heart of our PE curriculum. We believe that sport is for everyone and provide adaptive sports opportunities to ensure all pupils can participate, succeed and enjoy being physically active. Through carefully adapted activities and inclusive teaching approaches, every child is encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate personal achievements and develop a positive attitude towards physical activity. Our specialist sports coach works alongside staff and teaches across the school, enriching pupils' experiences and supporting the development of high-quality PE provision.
Opportunities for leadership and teamwork are woven throughout our PE curriculum. House Captains play a key role in promoting sport across the school and supporting our annual Sports Day. We are proud that Sports Day is designed to be fully inclusive, ensuring that every child can contribute to their team, experience success and enjoy being part of a shared sporting celebration. Through participation, cooperation and healthy competition, we aim to foster a lifelong appreciation of physical activity and help all children develop the confidence and skills needed to remain active throughout their lives.
