Phonics
Intent
At Bramingham, we are passionate and determined to develop fluent and confident readers and writers. Decoding for reading and segmenting for spelling are key elements of our phonics teaching. Through lively, pacey and interactive sessions we aim to build strong phonemic awareness in order that reading becomes automatic and effortless, and our children can therefore focus on comprehending the texts they are reading.
From September 2022, Essential Letters and Sounds is our chosen Phonics programme. The aim of the programme is 'Getting all children to read well, quickly'.
